  • Dr Philip Ely is a design researcher and educator with a background in interaction design, strategic design and entrepreneurship. In his formative years he worked as a designer at Total Design and IBM and in leadership positions at Telstar Entertainment Group, Granada Media and Design Bridge in London.

    He holds a PhD from the Digital World Research Centre, University of Surrey, a PGCE from UCL IoE, BA(Hons) from University of Portsmouth. He studied under James Meller (editor and friend of Buckminster Fuller) and Prof. Ian McLaren - the last remaining signatory to the First Things First Manifesto.

    Philip has designed a number of well-known brand websites and interactive products and was Postdoc researcher on the highly-acclaimed Interactive Newsprint project.
