RSD9 Chair. Praveen Nahar: RSD9 created a place for pause and reflection, but also bold ideas and forward-thinking discussion.
RSD8 Chair. Carlos Teixeira: Use this place-holder, meaning the complex space of innovation, as a concept to be able to explore new interpretations about these types of challenges.
RSD7 Chair. Silvia Barbero: The seventh Relating Systems Thinking and Design (RSD7) symposium was held at the Politecnico di Torino, 23rd-28th October 2018, for the first time in Italy, defining an important collaboration among the institutions that founded the Systemic Design Research Network in 2012.
RSD6 Chair. Birger Sevaldson: Flourishing Together. The theme encompassed the contexts for flourishing in democratic societies and explored the opportunities for systemic design.
RSD5 Chair. Peter Jones: Proceedings are the result of the dialogue and discursive process within the community of practice, and while it follows peer review within an extended reviewer panel, it differs from the traditional scientific publication process.
RSD4 Co-Chairs Alex Ryan and Peter Jones: A range of compelling intellectual engagements, from Don Norman’s provocations to develop a design practice capable of dealing with significant complexity, to Lia Patricio’s resonant case study and model of integration in the Portuguese health records system, to AP-J’s cutting-edge architectural models.
RSD3 Editors Birger Sevaldson and Peter Jones: The third Oslo symposium engaged over 200 participants and over 50 authors, and we found a much broader range of contributions across related fields of design and systemics.
RSD2 Editors Birger Sevaldson and Peter Jones: What binds systems related theories and practices together with design approaches may be the desire to reintroduce systems approaches with design toward a more effective integrated praxis.
The proceedings of the first RSD symposium were not published. It took place on October 4, 2012. The keynote lecture, “Systemics, the Logic of Design,” was given by Harold Nelson.
